Sunday strolls and playtime in the park don’t quite cut it for hipster parents, at least not when they can hit a local club for an afternoon of kid karaoke. The Beatles, AC/DC and the Clash were all on the playlist at Revival yesterday for a recurring Bunch family event featuring live band singalongs with Montreal outfit Urockaoke.
Simon and Keiran, above centre, capped their performance of the Clash’s “Rock the Casbah” by giving high-fives to their back-up singers. What a hoot! And that’s Simon, below left, showing off his breakdance style on the dancefloor between sets.
Bunch is an event organizer putting together family fun outings that appeal as much to young parents as to their ‘tweens and toddlers. Hosted by rapper/DJ Abdominal, above right (a finalist in this year’s Toronto Song Contest), Bunch karaoke parties happen several times per year — the next big event is at the Guvernment, January 30, part of Toronto’s WinterCity celebration.
