Pelham Park Youth Resource Centre

What: Mask making workshops
Where: Davenport
When: Summer 2006

Since the beginning of time, masks have been worn in celebration, for protection or for disguise. One of the most mysterious forms of artistic expression, mask-making is a unique practice that has the power to engage whole communities. During the summer of 2006, Pelham Park Youth Resource Centre, in collaboration with mask artist Pamela Schuller, programmed a range of workshops that combined art making with conversation, community building and potlucks!

The project, "Three Communities Mask Mosaic", included a colourful parade in September that commenced in Earlscourt Park before it shimmied and meandered through Davenport Road, Wiltshire Avenue and into Symington Place, completing its journey at the STOP Community Food Centre.
