Arts in the Hood was created as a pilot project of the City of Toronto's Live With Culture campaign in September 2005. Its mandate: to engage Toronto's at-risk youth in arts and culture and nurture the next generation of artistic talent. In partnership with arts organizations and community centres, Arts in the Hood animates projects that include workshops in urban music and dance, photography and film-making. All activities culminate in a public component: theatrical production, showcase, exhibition or video screening.
