Two Ontario College of Art and Design fundraisers culminate this week, a less expensive online auction (Photo Faculty & Friends, bidding ends April 1) and a pricier live auction being held at OCAD Wednesday (March 31, 6 pm) dubbed Project 31. Every day during March, a new work has been unveiled leading up to auction night where estimates for the work on offer range from $900 all the way up to $5,600. Tickets to the sale are $95 each, which includes cocktails, canapes and a copy of the Project 31 catalogue.
Also on Thursday is the West Queen West Art + Design + Food Walk led by the lively and knowledgeable Betty Ann Jordan. Sponsored by the West Queen West BIA, the free walk kicks off at 6 pm at Nunu Fine Ethiopian Food (1178 Queen West) then proceeds to the Reference Gallery (No. 1142), Angell Gallery (12 Ossington Street), the Ontario Craft Council (No. 990), the Toronto Institute for the Enjoyment of Music (No. 821) and, finally, on to the Drake Hotel (No. 1150), where curator Mia Nelson is giving all art walkers a sketch from Fashion Crime’s new collection. Sounds like a great evening, especially if the weather forecast holds true (sunny, high 23 C).
